We’ve been doing loads of days out as a family recently and I finally recognised the need for a new bag – well, that’s the official line anyway!
The unofficial line? A girl can NEVER have too many bags – right? Boots and bags are my thing – you’ll soon learn this about me!
But seriously – with my kids now 6 and 3 and walking everywhere I realise how much I’ve relied on my push-chair for the last 6 years! IT used to be the packhorse but since its demise I’VE taken its place! Not so much fun! So I’ve been on the look out for help.
I recently saw a mum sporting a RUCKSACK which was perfect since she had her hands free for everything else she needed to achieve. Not so perfect since it was honestly the ugliest excuse of a rucksack I’ve ever laid eyes upon! Seriously woman – have some self respect!
But then again, when the Oxford Dictionary gives THIS description what hope is there?
- a bag with shoulder straps which allow it to be carried on someone’s back, typically made of a strong, waterproof material and widely used by hikers.
So, fearful of joining the “sporty, functional rucksack” brigade in the knowledge that I’d then be on the slippery slope to “mummy trainerdom” (Lord help me!) I got Googling! If this was going to be my everyday bag, it needed to be more than your everyday rucksack!
And BOY did I find a beauty at Grafea – and the lovely people there sent me one to try! It’s the Grafea Actor – it comes in black, chocolate brown and my choice – the camel. It’s got one front pocket, two side pockets and a secret zip up pocket on the back for extra security. And it has comfy, adjustable shoulder straps!
At £180 it’s not cheap, but I totally wish I’d bought it when I was pregnant with Kaya. It would have been the perfect baby bag for both kids, then it would have transformed into the perfect all-purpose-bag now since it’ll last for ever.
The best thing about it? Grafea is a British company and the designs by their creator Hari centre around the traditional satchel. Not only can it hold ALL my stuff but the leather is so beautiful I know it’s only going to get even more stunning with age. I’ve had LOTS of admiring glances and people asking me where it’s from. The answer?
