It went something like this….
What my girls said: “Come on a girls yoga weekend to Ibiza”
What I heard: “Come on a GIRLS yoga WEEKEND to IBIZA”
Yup – I’ll be honest, I’ve never thought yoga was my thing. I did do it once and it was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish – with my sister and me arriving late, flustered and bumbling into a class only to spend the next hour trying to get in poses our tin-man bodies had no hope of getting into – and occasionally catching sight of each others awkward poses in the wall of mirrors... resulting in shoulder shaking laughter! Like when you get the giggles in church and try to keep it in so it all ends up snorting out of your nose? THAT.
But yoga in IBIZA? I was IN!
Last time I’d visited Ibiza was for my hen week with a bunch of gorgeous girls, so I was excited to return.
Bubbles at Stansted airport were the perfect start to our girls trip away.
Truth be told, I'd brought 5 – yes FIVE – books, and fully intended to spend much of my 3 night stay on a sunlounger, learning the Things I Know for Sure from Oprah, how to be Daring and Disruptive from Lisa Messenger and generally filling my every waking moment with enough sunshine and positivity to get my summer off to the perfect start! That was the plan anyway!
But all of that went out of the window as the reality of my YogaFitIbiza experience surpassed ALL my expectations – and then some!
To be clear from the start – I was a fully legit paying attendee – this wasn’t a press trip. I was just going with some of my buddies on the down low and wasn’t actually going to blog it but had SUCH an awesome experience, I couldn’t help but share the love.
I also LOVE how the team at YogaFitIbiza are trying to keep the whole thing accessible. Which means I couldn’t quite believe the price tag. Together with super cheap flights I got the whole trip for £390 – for 3 nights all-inclusive in Ibiza – WITH full days of exercise classes at your disposal.
I KNOW!
The Invisa Hotel Club Cala Verde on the north of the island was the stunning backdrop to the stay and the novelty of having a WHOLE bedroom to myself, with nobody else to think about, was pretty spectacular!
The next few days were a mix of cliff top walks with my girls, fitness classes, life coach talks and a generally infectious positive vibe. Everyone on the weekend had the loveliest way about them and it didn’t matter if you were at sessions with people you knew or not, everyone was so great with each other that, even those who’d gone it alone, would never have had the chance to feel lonely.
Then, in a moment by the stunning pool on a lounger, Oprah reminded me of one of my favourite quotes. It’s from a song by Leanne Womack called I Hope You Dance and it’s all about embracing life and seizing the moment. “When you get the choice to sit it out or dance – I hope you dance”! This weekend was ALL about dancing – metaphorically and physically – I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard as I did in the Dance Fitness class! SO much fun!
I decided to dip my toe into the Yoga pool and got totally spoilt by an early morning session with Lisa Cuerden. An epic sunrise over the sea accompanied by sensational music and my body feeling incredible and I felt grateful that my experience had been of such cinematic proportions!
It was about so much more than the exercise. I totally had “a moment” – of being thankful for the whole Yoga Fit experience, of being thankful for such wonderful women in my life, of being thankful for the stunning world around me and of being thankful that, at this point in life – I’m finally cool with ME! I LOVE where I’m at in my life and I’m happy in my skin!
I even got to try SUP Yoga and was so bitten by the bug, I got up early the next morning to make sunrise yoga again. But for one reason and another I didn’t make the class, so went for a walk on the beach instead. When I heard the strains of Now We Are Free (from Gladiator) wafting along the beach from Lindsay Jay’s class, my experience was complete! Trey and I walked down the “aisle” to the music at our wedding and as I sat on the beach, tears streaming down my face, I just felt grateful for the sheer impact the weekend’s experience had on me.
It’s hard to sum up the Yoga Fit experience, there truly are no words.
It’s the perfect blend of yoga, general fitness classes, beach, sunshine, life experience, general positivity – just about the most life affirming weekend I’ve ever had - creating wonderful memories with incredible souls.
THE FINE PRINT:
I was a fully paying guest at Yoga Fit Ibiza. I chose to write this review because I loved it.
